Alessandro PIREDDA

Alessandro PIREDDA (1974-) is an Italian photographer based in Misano Adriatico, near Rimini. In Ravenna, he studied fine art and developed an interest and a deep understanding of architectures and photography. His series: Darkitectures is the opportunity for him to get into both of his passion. By dedicating his photos to the historical Italians monuments, he offers a meditation about links between time and civilization. The artistic treatment used during the shootings should be understand in this way. Alessandro PIREDDA uses long exposure time (about 10 seconds), allowing him to modulate the light during the photo developing process. The lights can remind us of the glow of a candle. It gives tragic feeling to the scene and a mysterious atmosphere.
