In this series of images, Stephen WILKES lends himself to urbex photography. He captures the disused premises of Ellis Island, the historic gateway for immigrants arriving in the United States. Following the departure of the immigration service in 1954, the island was abandoned, left without inhabitants or life. Stephen Wilkes then photographs the decline of this place, a former obligatory passage to attempt the American dream. Despite the ravages of time, he succeeds in sublimating it and provoking a reflection on decadence.
