Dahlias are native to Central America, where the Aztecs consumed their roots as a vegetable. There are several varieties with different shapes and colors. Today it is an ornamental plant that was introduced to Europe in the early 19th century. Its name was found in honor of Anders Dahl, a Swedish botanist. By photographing these decaying ornamental plants, Rachel Levy questions the passage of time and the notion of beauty.
