Jean-Claude GAUTRAND
The French photographer Jean-Claude GAUTRAND (1932-2019) is fond of black and white photography. Principles of the “subjective photography” movement imbues his artwork, this photo movement of the 1950’s consider photography as the artist inner truth. Both photographer and photography historian, Jean-Claude GAUTRAND involved himself in many photo clubs and photo movements between the 1950’s and the 1990’s. During this time, he made the series L’assassinat de Baltard (1972), about the demolition of the Halles of Paris. The photographic style of Jean-Claude GAUTRAND blend the artistic approach with the historian one. His peers, the institutions and the public as well, have recognized the quality of Jean-Claude GAUTRAND’s photos.
