Stephen WILKES begins his famous ‘Day to Night‘ series in 2008. Each image represents a whole day, showing how people share a place without meeting or crossing each other. To achieve this, Stephen WILKES takes more than 1000 photographs on 24 to 28 hours. The photographer and his assistant spend nearly 15 hours behind the camera, on top of a bucket truck, which allows them a completely new angle of view on the place they immortalize. About 50 to 100 photos are then selected and merged digitally to make the final image. It is a colossal post-processing work that lasts about a month and a half. Thanks to that, the artist offers an original and innovative look at the most famous places on the planet.
