Nocturnes Paris

The Nocturnes series of Cássio Vasconcellos has begun in São Paulo. Cássio Vasconcellos roams the streets, marking buildings, bridges, panels and other urban signs, which he reconfigures thanks to low-angle views and a work on the light. His exhibition “Noturnos São Paulo” earned him the prestigious prize of the Associação Paulista de Críticos de Arte in 2002. He obtained the following year a residency at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, which allowed him to carry on his nocturnal walks in a new surrounding. The pallid lights of the city taint Parisian nights, giving the statues the appearance of strange and dreamlike creatures.
