Iceberg
Pack ice is a layer of ice formed over the polar oceans. It is a white vastness that has aroused many fantasies due to its distant character. Icebergs are pieces of disjointed pack ice drifting on water. The characteristic of an iceberg is that its visible phase corresponds to a tiny part of its total mass. Thus, 80% of its mass is submerged. In this series of photographs, Paul NICKLEN captures pack ice and icebergs by attaching himself to a waterfall or lagoon. He therefore manages to capture the strength of these spaces by confronting bright colors with shades of black.
